Facebook Resources After Hurricane Sandy

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, we’re seeing people on Facebook post messages to their family and friends, letting them know they’re OK and sharing resources for where to get help.

Facebook maintains a Global Disaster Relief Page at Facebook.com/DisasterRelief. We’ve also created an interest list that collects Facebook updates and resources from state emergency agencies and other groups assisting with the recovery. Or, you can receive Facebook updates on relief efforts and disaster response directly from the American Red Cross (Facebook.com/RedCross) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Facebook.com/FEMA).

As of 10 AM ET this morning, the top 10 shared terms by people in the U.S. on Facebook were:

1. we are ok
2. power – lost power, have power, no power
3. damage
4. hope everyone is ok
5. trees
6. made it
7. safe
8. thankful
9. fine
10. affected
